O2 doesn't cause weight gain. Steroids are a different question, but I've known people who lost weight on steroids because they were very careful regarding what they ate. Calories in and calories out. You have to burn calories to lose weight and that means you have to move.

In 2003, I came out of the hospital on O2 24/7, with a boatload of meds, a c-pap machine, weighing nearly 300 pounds. Long story short, I went on a 1200 - 1500 calorie diabetic diet and began exercising daily, using my O2. Over 18 months, I lost over 100 pounds and it's stayed off.

I'm now 70, I work out every day for at least 30 minutes and usually more like 45 minutes on the treadmill and 30 minutes with weights, swiss ball, and resistance bands. I travel a lot, I consult in my profession regularly, am a COPD advocate who speaks at conferences and workshops and fly about twice a month to various places.

I know that if I hadn't lost the weight, I probably would have been dead by 2005. I really have a darn good life now, so it's been worth it for sure!

I take Prednisone on a daily basis so I know I have to watch what I eat. I have learned that I do better by eating 5 or 6 small meals or snacks instead of 3 large meals.

This is something I have battled my entire life. Doc keeps telling me to loose weight. I know exercise can be good but I don't always have the energy for it. Oh well.... which battle to pick today lol

I call myself a little round person. I hate it, but I refuse to starve myself. I put on every time I am on steroids & I try to get it off, but......usually don't get it all off. I can't exercise much. I have noticed that I am holding steady and before that lost 6 pounds, don't ask how, I don't know. There is a number I won't allow myself to go past. Since I was diagnosed 13 years ago I have put on 40 pounds. It would take me a long time to take it off so I just don't worry about it....as long as I stay under that one number.
