I have heard of it, in fact went to major hospital in Perth to be assessed for it, wasn't a suitable candidate...basically it means removing the diseased part of the lung, thus making your lungs smaller, this in turn makes it easier to breath...not everyone is suitable to have it done, if your damaged lung are local used to either the top lobes or the bottom you'd probably be ok, in my case the emphysema was spread throughout both lungs, so I wasn't a candidate. I believe that people who have had this procedure have a much improved quality of life. Ask your lung specialist about it, it is quite common, there is also a procedure where they can put stents in as well, this removes the carbon monoxide from your lungs helping ease shortness of breath. Hope this helps.

In Australia they have introduced BLVR which is less invasive , I am hoping to have it in October and is done with a tube down your throat , placing one way valves in your lungs to block off the damaged areas ! This means No Surgery ! Hence quick recovery , hospital for 3-4 Days ! Shall keep you posted .

Can you rent one..I know in Australia you can rent them, but I've no idea about the cost, perhaps that's something you could look into....just don't give up. Put it out there to other members if they know how you can get a portable machine, at low cost...Please you must try my friend. Hugs to you.
