you have to try and relax tell your self it doesn't last. try to cough deep enough to bring the mucus up. sit down when you first start coughing so you don't fall. use inhaler if you can. try drinking something hot like coffee my doctor said that works. also he told me to keep a paper lunch bag in my pocket book, so if I am out and cant use my inhaler right away breath in to the bag slowly until you catch your breath enough to find your inhaler. it works ive had to do this I have stage four so there isn't much I haven't done. hugs to you.

At times coughing makes me see stars..........If you can, they say....cough 3 gentle coughs, a few times and eventually that mucous comes up
