A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

husband has a history of smoking and did asbestos abatement for 20 + years...all hes had for diagnosis is x-rays and cat scans...shouldn't a bronchoscopy be in order? our pulmonary dr keeps focusing on the chest pain and address it a a heart problem...put him on nitro????..

I have had a heart cath recently as the worsening in breathing is causing heart issues. I am now on two heart meds plus the copd meds and nebulized meds. I good heart doc that you trust can answer a lot of questions for you and your husband. I would question the pulmonologist, especially if he doesn't want to refer to a cardio doc. your husband needs to understand what is happening to him, as best the two docs can determine. I have had low o2 stats in the low 80's, and the heart rate in the 130's. it is scary when it happens, and I used to hyperventilate, and make it worse. understanding can really help lower anxiety.

I've DELT with copd for a long time, for years, I thought my heart was giving me my problems, but after going into the hospital, found out about copd. The two of them work hand in hand, if you don't get enough oxygen from the lungs, to supply the body of oxygen, then the heart workd double time, in trying to get oxygen to our body, and brain... So I have to have both work with me.. I went in this past December thinking my lungs were giving me fits, ended up having a heart catch, and they put a pace maker in my chest... The best of luck to you and God bless

Wow thats the first time I've ever heard about having it sucked out. I always just take the z-Pack and in two days it clears up and by the time I'm done on the pack I have it no more. I hope I never get it that bad. I try to watch body carefully to stay on the safe side.

Boy, I've had a lot of pnuemonia, over the years, but never had to have it sucked out, you must be a pretty tough cookie!!! I don't get my oxygen down to 80' cause my blood pressure goes up to 165 and up.. I've never had fever with my pnuemonia... I know about getting excited,,,, I try to control it.. Have a wonderful day, and God bless you.
