My Dr. says my COPD is moderately severe. I don't use any meds other than oxygen. I only use that when sleeping or excerting myself like walking in store i.e. Walmart etc. I'm just wondering what to expect with this disease.
Is your doc your PCP or a pulmonologist? If your COPD is moderate, there are meds that are usually prescribed besides O2 and encouraged in best practice in the management of COPD. If you're not seeing a pulmonologist, I would suggest that you get a referral to one or just find one. To simply have O2 prescribed and nothing else is a little strange, and unless there's a very good reason for it, I'd be asking some questions. Once you get a good doc, you can start talking with him/her about what you can expect.
To just use oxygen is very strange because with COPD there is constant inflammation. Therefore you should be on some type of anti-inflammatory medication. Please look into that.
@Be Thankful it's oxygen he will start your medication you start showing signs of having a tough time even on oxygen. You may be one of the lucky ones and not require meds for a while. I had people in pulmonary office that have had Copd and not require meds right away. Deem your self lucky. Never quit Keep smiling .😏 😁 🙌 PBakaPam
I agree with Jean. It is very strange considering most people are on meds long before they get oxygen. You should be under the care of a lung specialist as well
@A MyCOPDTeam Member, I agree, there are different mess to take where you don't need to have the oxygen. I'm putting that off as long as I'm doing well on my meds.
