I use Benylin Extra strength Mucus @ Phlegm . It definitely helps me get rid of excess phlegm. I also make my own cough syrup of lemons, ginger, turmeric and honey. It also really helps plus it has so many other good benefits.

I have used it when I was very congested. My pulmonologist told me to use it to help break up the mucus and to use my flutter valve. I keep it on hand along with my antibiotics in case of a flare-up. My doctor and I always try to handle a flare-up at home rather than the ER so I have drugs on-hand to take if he wants me to,

I take Mucinex when I have a coughing fit, a dry cough that doesn't produce mucous. Seems to thin the mucous so I can cough it up.

I keep it on hand and use it whenever I have trouble with a productive cough. I look for off brands that contain 400 mg guaifenesin, much cheaper than mucinex. it helps loosen the phlem.

I am lucky in that my doc knows me well enough that I can email him with info as to what is going on,and he'll prescribe for me.I do have to go in if I get worse;or I can just go down the road to mercy'sUrgent Care in the evenings or on the weekend.When you're sick,driving is too much effort.
