This may be a silly question, but is there a time limit on how long you can be on oxygen therapy?
And what is the life expectancy of someone on it 24hrs a day ?
No, there's no time limit. In fact, O2 is the only medication available to us that has been proven to prolong life in those with COPD. Your life expectancy only goes up if you are on O2. You never did have an "expired by" date stamped on your forehead and you still don't.
Without going into any story line, and basically cause I have high oxygen saturation around 97-98%,,,,
My new pulmonary team were concerned that someone with a capacity of 18% could have an activity level that did not match the normal text book.....In spite of every effort 2 weeks ago and a 12 min walk, there was little or no change in saturation levels....So although Supplementary Oxygen was their aim, they could not justify doing so.....Hence further lung deterioration could lead to heart issues instead......So another round of the Usual PFT's is booked, but first is the Echo Scan for Pulmonary Hypertension.....That is why I searched heart rather than lungs and found this link about the role of Oxygen.....
BTW..Forget the book link...LOL..Enough info to do one's own research.

Definitely talk with your doc; those lower sat rate are way too low. I'd suggest you keep a log of your activities and your sat levels with each of them and present that to your doc. To keep you at 2 lpm is courting right heart failure and brain damage, neither of which you want!
Thanks for your help, my oxygens sats are from 80 too 94 on oxygen rate of 2 , so i will talk to dr
