Copd Meds .. Breathe Better?
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

When you take your COPD meds do you begin to breathe easier, better and move around more? After I take my Spiriva and Breo I do not notice any difference .. sure not like the TV commercials for some .. makes me feel like I am missing something . Sorry, just needed to vent a little

@A MyCOPDTeam Member Please don't give up., I'm not sure if you're going to a Pulmonologist or not. You should have been told that with COPD the damage is done. I smoked up to 2 1/2 years ago. It hasn't been easy. My lungs are pretty bad and I'm limited on what I can do. I was told by my doctor that if I continued to smoke I wouldn't last 2 more years. I wasn't ready for that. To this day there are times that I still want a cigarette. But I don't want to die. The reason I mentioned the deal about washing my hair is because most days I couldn't. It was hard just to wash off much less wash hair. If you're still having problems like this can you talk to your Doctor? Ask what other medication is out there. Please don't give up and don't start smoking again. You may feel like it's the same now, but if you start smoking again, it will be worse. I'm here if you ever need to talk more. Most of us have been through some tough times with this, so reach out to anyone here. Read some of the posts. You will see that we've all had some pretty bad days. Sometimes it's really easy to get depressed with this. You and I have to decide if we are going to get up and move or just sit and do nothing because it's hard. I think this is the hardest thing to get over. On my bad days I've learned not to beat myself up for not being able to do things. (one of the hardest things to do) and I've found something I can do while I'm having the bad days. I don't like to read a lot so I research different things on the computer, play games on it or curl up and watch movies. Find one thing you really enjoy, that you can do sitting down and not moving alot. I can do jigsaw puzzles on my computer. This is what I started doing. By this it has reminded me of the other things that I used to enjoy and stopped due to work, life, etc. I hope this will help in some way. Hope to hear from you some more.

What Spiriva are you using? I just went on Spiriva Restrimat works much better than Spiriva.

Midazolam nose spray works quickest for me. My breathless eases within 30 seconds or so. Ventolin once worked as fast but not anymore. Perhaps I should increase the dose. I take four puffs but one time I was hospitalised, the A&E doctor told me to take six puffs and the Ventolin worked almost immediately. However, I'm reluctant to take such a big dose unless my condition is especially bad.

Im using advair and the doctor put me on spiriva also. But the spiriva seemed to make things worse and besides being in the donut hole those two cost me 310 a month. Hooked up with medication outreach to get those at 35.00 a piece but i still havent gotten any medicine yet and its been almost two months. They seem to be getting their 75.00 a money out of my account but no medication. By the time they send me the medication i wont need it. I found that several of the capsules of the siriva were empty. So im going to cancel the medication outreach program. They are just as bad as the ins companys. 35.00 to get started 35 each medicine and then they send ma a paper i have to get notarized and thats 20.00. Come jan they charge me another 35.money,money,money.........

Not enough info. Do you have a albuterol rescue inhaler to use when you get SOB and are you on oxygen and if not I would seriously look into it, and last, if you struggle at night have you been tested for sleep apnea?
