The NIH through the NHLBI, is doing some significant research at the basic cellular level; the COPD Foundation has a variety of studies going through PCORI funding, there is a lot of work being done using stem cells (NOT the Lung Institute, believe me!) at a variety of research and educational institutions in regenerative medicine (Wake Forest has one of the premier programs) and the pharmaceutical companies are still working on a couple of things that could produce new meds (really new ones, not just new variations on ones we currently have). There is a lot going on, but it's being done in many different places and it's hard to keep track of it all.

There is no cure for this when lungs are damaged You just have to have a good dr and get on with life to the best that you can with your meds
