Only guidance from Pulmonary man was More oxygen, more life. Have left message for pulmonary rehab orders.. No answer.
Supplementary O2 is the only med that has been proven to prolong life for people with COPD, so your pulmo was right about that. Keep bugging him for an order for PR. A PE with COPD probably did kick your butt pretty good. Keep working on doing more each day, and use your O2 to help you. You will get stronger but it may be a slow process.
I have had a double pulmonary embolism before i was diagnosed with copd. Two weeks in the hospital and came home . I went back to work the same day i came home. I guess i was lucky not to have to deal with anything but blood thiners for years. Its a scary thing to go through. Just take things slow and trust in God you will be alright.
@CarolMarie-- Well that is good news Carol, you just have to enjoy life at a slower pace now..i have COPD with emphysema also...did learn that till i went in June and send my new lung Doctor...i am on oxygen 24/7 now at a rate of 4.5 liters.it does hinder your movement till it gets tangle or someone else trips on it and out goes your hose or they fall down...but pulmonary rehab can be fun and instructive at that..Thru the VA i have been to 2 phases and they wanted to me do a third phase but i have all the equipment here at home to use so i do it at home at my pace...but if you have any questions on any exercises let me know and i will be glad to send you some chair stuff and other stuff that i do...have a great evening and a breathe easy weekend..
