Has Anyone Ever Been Xrayed Using Radioactive Dye And Gases Using A Cat Scan To Test Lung Air Volume
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I re-checked my pulmonary function test instructions abd I was indeed asked not to use my inhalers for 24 hours prior. Rescue inhaler only. No prednisone for 2 days. At least in the emergency they did a nuclear imaging of lung air volume and it showed how bad my lungs were. See my tespirologist tuesday to go over treatment to get my breathing under control. My blood ox was down to 89 which isn't so bad but I couldn't lay down for 2 tests because I couldn't breathe. I also passed out cold… read more

Hi, @A MyCOPDTeam Member - yes, I was given a CT xray with the radioactive dye, back in 1992. It felt "hot" going in to my bloodstream, but it was easily tolerated despite the warmth.

Wow, I'm amazed that they would make you go without your meds, but allow a "rescue" inhaler. Not a doc, but that just seems strange. Please remember that anything under 92% for blood oxygen levels can begin to put wear and tear on your other organs, so it's not a good thing.

As for sleeping sitting up - if you don't have a rocking chair, now may be the time to consider getting one. Either the ladies wing-backed chair or the rocking chair is where I spend 90% of my time in the Winter, when breathing lying down is so very challenging.

I hope you get some relief soon, Donna.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member - talk to your doctor about an rx for a recliner that will electronically push you into sitting up, and then push you into standing. It was about $3,000 for one for my Aunt, and medicare covered it as a safety issue.

I sleep on a recliner also...but I have no strength to get it upright.. Takes me forever and is a problem at night when I have to go to the bathroom 3 or 4 times,...

I agree. I use about 5 pillows to sleep in bed. Recliner no problem.

guess Apria is coming to my house to check my oxygen level...They wanted me to come to their office but I told them I was housebound. Said they did not have enough employees to get to me earlier than the 26th...I don't understand....The pulmonary doctor had me tested in their office a couple/three months ago and it was determined that I need 4 level instead of 2 for oxygen...Strange how these companies can keep coming up with something or other to make more money and less service...found some cans of pork & beans to eat...not staving yet....
