I have been told there is no surgery for me as the damage is in both lungs they have said they can't do nothing for me just prolonge my life
I had LVRS on the 22 of March 2017, I did pulmonary rehab before. I have Emphysema and the DR took the top lobe of my right lung out. It's been 3 weeks since my surgery and have not had shortness of breath. I have been mowing my lawn and light work around the house. The DR. said it takes 6-8 weeks to be back to normal and he told me this is a life changing operation. If you have ? please ask me, i had to find this dr on my own.
Have you been tested for Alpha01 Antitrypsin Deficiency? That's the first thing you should ask for, especially as a never smoker. It's an inherited form of emphysema and requires a different treatment in addition to the usual inhalers.
LVRS is a surgery that is available to some folks, but they did find in a study of over 10000 LVRS procedures that the people who did best had a lot more upper lobe damage than in the lower lobes. Most of us have damage that is pretty evenly distributed and therefore aren't good candidates for LVRS. No point in having surgery that won't do any good. Here's a good site to get information regarding LVRS:

Never give up as there are medical advances and break through s happening all the time .
