I wish my pulminary doc. had been more informent a few yrs. ago I had a moglia hyrene which they operated on. The COPD cough caused an abnomil hyrene which has grown to be HUGE. So follow your lung doc.

It's because the medicationsare sedatives that they have to use to put you to sleep or in twilight can make you stop breathing when you have COPD. When I was diagnosed they took me off my ativan because they said I could go to sleep and never wake up. Any type of sedative or medications to put you in twilight or asleep can make you never wake up. They have to monitor your breathing better and your heart to make sure they don't give you to strong of a dose. I have cervical epidurals done every three month and I have to get permission from my pulminary to give them the ok and I have to get permission from my vascular surgeon to stop my blood thinners for 3 days before the procedure. When I have my cervical epidurals done they no longer give me a sedative I am fully awake and trust me it hurt's like hell. Before havimg amy procedure done when they are using any type of a sedative I have to get permission from my pulminary doc. Good Luck & Best wishes

versed i think may be the name of drug used to give you a twilight sleep for colonoscopy. I had one and was fully alert - doc had to give 2nd dose of it - still did not get me groggy enuf to shut me up ( doc was not happy and not very successful in completing the colonoscopy either); Good Luck

@A MyCOPDTeam Member having the safety of your pulmonologist there is a true comfort to me. I can't take the regular drug that most people take to put them under because it doesn't put me out. My prayers are with you and if you feel comfortable with what you are choosing to do, go for it. God put me at peace. I knew I could not go threw all the dialysis.Prayers and blessings.
