Have you tried some chair exercises? that is how i started out back exercising, your larger muscles, legs and butts use more oxygen than the rest of the body..so time yourself. i would go for say 10 for a week and then go up to 11 minutes if you see improvement in you breathing.but you need to watch your breathing first...but doing some stretches first before you get on the TM will help you also...warm up those legs before you take off...remember this saying when ever you start exercising. SLOW MOTION IS BETTER THAN NO MOTION.. hope this helps you out....

You start really slow. See my answer to the question above. Talk with your doc about a referral to a Pulmonary Rehab program. Chair exercises are good, and you need to do some aerobic stuff as well. With walking, you're going for time, the longer the better. Start very slowly; don't take off at what you think is your normal pace because you'll be done in a very short time. Start PLBing before you start and keep doing it while you walk very, very slowly for as long as you can before you have to stop to catch your breath. Watch your oximeter; if it goes below 88, crank your O2 up to where you're comfortable (don't forget to turn it back down when you're done) and keep on walking even slower than before. When you have to stop to catch your breath, note how long you've been walking. Walk the same amount of time every day and every fourth day or so, add a couple of minutes. You'll get to the 30 minute mark sooner than you think. That's how you do it.

Chair exercises is where i would start if you have just started to do them. you tube has a bunch of good one that you can look at and pick from that suits your needs. and from there you can do some exercise bands or resistance bands and dumb bells and just gradually build up from that. that is how i did it and it just gets better from there, stationary bikes and recumbent bikes...but you need to make it fun cause if isnt fun you wont do it...music add music to your exercises and it is like not even doing it...take it easy take it slow dont rush it, go for ten minutes a week and build from that. i am now up to 45 minutes on my recumbent bike and about 35 minutes of stretches each day...remember the quote "SLOW MOTION IS BETTER THEN NO MOTION" have a great breathe easy day.

I've started walking slowly on my treadmill...I can only go for about 10 or 15 min. right now but am aiming for much longer in the long run...With the treadmill I can walk at any time which is good because it is Winter here in Ohio and very cold...I don't force myself to go out in the cold...If I really have to I make sure I have protection over my nose and mouth...I try to stay positive but sometimes it is hard to do...I have realized that depression is something that we should try to avoid at all cost...It is hard but so much better for you...Thank you for letting me vent a little, we all need to...
