I really rely on you all for your experience and help.
Okay, I have been ignoring a low grade lung infection since November. All of a sudden, I am coughing up much more green with darker specks mucus. Does this mean "it's coming out" and being done with, or is it something I need to be seen for?
It's an infection and one you should have gotten rid of months ago. Get to your doc ASAP; go to the ER if you have to, but don't wait. The increased green gun means it's really gotten hold of you.
It means that there's a bacterial infection and you need to see your doctor and be put on an anti-biotic and perhaps some prednisone. It is possible that you have bronchitis or pneumonia.
Absolutely Audrey better out than in. Are you on a strong antbiotc? That will also help. Stay positive.
I agree with what @A MyCOPDTeam Member said. Thats what I'm going thru now and I've been sick since November too. And if you don't treat it you will end up in the hospital like I did. The longer you wait the worse it gets.
Depending on the color of phlegm. I was treated for pneumonia a couple years ago. After that I felt a little better. Hope this helps.
