Asthma And Emphysema

I got diagnosed with Asthma over 30 years ago and then got diagnosed with second stage Emphysema last year. Do i still have the Asthma? My doctors has really confused me on this.

If your rescue inhalers still work and your breathing returns to normal, you do still have asthma as well as emphysema. It's not unusual for people with asthma to develop COPD later in life. You need to ask your pulmonologist to explain this to you in terms you can understand.

Hi @SuzieJayne, hope you are feeling well, I know how you feel about your illness's, I think that all things like asthma COPD and other conditions are connected and not as essay to get rid off. I've got both diabetes & COPD & I often find it difficult to breathe etc
I'm prone to getting bronchitis & pneumonia & it makes me feel down hearted, but have to stay positive not only for myself but for the family as well as friend's. So please stay positive and breathe easy. Hugs out to you. Paul
