I have started singing lessons to re-educate my lungs and diaphragm. This is so that I can use the lower parts of my lungs instead of just the top part. I have found that my breathing shortness is improving and that I am recovering quicker. Is this classed as an @exercise
@Canuck-I told my wife i wanted to get a harmonica to help me and she said i could get one if i could play solo! i said solo and she said yew so low i can here you.....LOL
I play picked up a harmonica after many years. I don't know if it is helping but my wife likes the music so I guess there is some good to it.
Someone told me playing a harmonica would help my lung function.Any one know about this?
I wouldn't call it exercise in the standard sense of the word. It's certainly good for your lungs and your breathing! Talk with your doc about either starting Pulmonary Rehab or beginning an exercise program on your own. That's exercise, and combined with what you're doing with the singing, you'll really see some major differences. The two will complement each other very well, and you'll make twice as much progress doing both as you would with just one. You'll end up in much better shape and able to do a whole lot more.
Brenda, Of course it is an @exercise! You're exercising your lungs sweetie. I started singing in choirs just after diagnosis of COPD and the singing has slowed down the deterioration of my wheezers (my lungs). I've recently stopped the local choral society as we intend moving up to the Highlands for the last move in my life. Ergo I'll be looking for a choir up there in the near future! As they say up here "Gie it Laldy hen"
