just got out of isolation in hospital today, had a Dr. appointment on Monday ,he said I don't like the way you look . I'm putting you in isolation and find out what we are fighting. both arms are black and blue I've been iv-d and shot and pilled until they said ,we believe a dose of antibiotic in your nebulizer will deliver the meds straight to your lung instead of thru your body.So the plan is now to administer this with the albuterol, ipratropium liquid in my nebulizer treatment every 4 hours for 2 weeks to see if the infection is then completely gone.At this point I am no longer coughing until I loose my breathe and the sputum is white and bubbly. Gone I don't think is the right word I believe controlled is more likely.more later as we learn how this works. think happy thoughts!!

Finding the correct antibiotics for respiratory infections is problematic because without a mucus culture to find out exactly what bacteria their dealing with. (Which takes about 5 days) your prescribing doctor is going to play a guessing game as to what medicine is most likley to kill off the infection he believes hes dealing with Cipro is a pretty powerful antibiotic but wont kill all types of germs . Often your going to need a cocktail of drugs to fight off your infection when I had pneumonia I was receiving 2 antibiotics in an IV and 2 others orally every day So keep taking your meds religiously it can take 2wks or more and if that doesnt work youll get another medication. Its a pain but you have to completely get rid of that infection Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol Best Wishes Stay in touch DAH

today is the last day of the strong antibiotics,I'm taking 6 gabapentin a day for cramps I think .I've lost 8 lbs and now weight 118.have compression socks on and still have a bubble cough that doesn't produce anything.Am stronger and sleeping about 4 hrs at a time then nebulizer and we start over again.will see the Dr on Monday and am thinking he will be pleased with my progress and then we get more meds. I get the feeling this stuff(C.O.P.D.) is trying to kill me.have always been hard headed so we will see who wins the next round. So glad I bought a supplement ins. yrs ago ,costs a bit but can still afford to fight this stuff. Stay smiling everyone makes the world wonder what you've been up to.
