Is There Anything One Can Take To Loosen Up Mucus?
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

My friend is on Spireva and she says it makes her mouth dry. She also uses Ventolin 5 - 6 times daily. Her doctor and specialist have been juggling puffers now for a few months and nothing is helping. She has trouble breathing when she first get up in the morning because of the mucus.

I use Mucimex seems to help, and Bioteen helps the dry mouth.

She could talk with her doc about mucinex or NAC, both available OTC. There's also daliresp and azithromycin, assuming your doc is aware of those two treatments. If she's not, find a good pulmonologist.

Thank you Helen. The next time I get out I will pick up some. I have had a good week except for nighttime I cough a lot and usually have to get up and sit in my recliner.
