I have a friend who went from no oxygen to oxygen 24/7 in a week. Is there any way to avoid the need for oxygen or is it just part of the disease?

Oxygen pretty much goes with our disease, sorry about that. There are measures you can do to help oxygenation. Exercise for one thing and I doo breathing exercise, I doo deep breathing, gat my lungs as full of oxygen as my lungs will jold. Then hold my breath as long as possible and then very slowly exhalewith my lips in the form of a small zero. Like blowing into a soda bottle. You might want to try thst. exercise as much as you can without going to excess! . STOP. take a 5 minute break and start to go at it at a slower rate. do not become discouraged!. you will see an improvement as time goes by. take your time as an injury will only lead to worse outcome. long recoup time. try to walk some as good for cardio.

It would be wonderful at 100%. I know 96% is okay. Pulse 100 & under. Since the AFib, I have to monitor it staying under 100. Meds are keeping it controlled.

need to get a oxymeter, if oxygen is below 90 then youshould start to take in oxygen. 92 is actually the minimal that i stay at , due to the fact that a lower reading can start to damage your organs , the oxygen will really help you , but beware of overdoing it as too much is toxic also, there is a fine line in getting to the right number you need. ask your specialist to explain all these factors to you. also diet can greatly reduce the severity of flare-ups . so check on fruits and veggies for your foods. stay awat from red meat! get your protein from other sources.

As for 02 levels as high as you can get them 02 will be higher at rest but as you exercise and move around your body will require more 02 to replenish red blood cells which carry oxygenated blood to every cell in your body. Your considered good if you can maintain 02 saturation of 95-96% during your daily activities. Pulse should not be above 99 for any extended period of time. You should purchase a pulse oximeter that you just clip on one of your fingers usually the index one and it will give you a reading of both your 02 saturation % and your pulse rate in just a few seconds There not that expensive around $40 shop around I got mine at Walgreens and have had it for over 5yrs.
