If you have chronic bronchitis shouldn't you be on antibiotics along with the prednisone i was put on the prednisone for 14 days but no antibiotics i also got a shot of steroids thank you
BDonna's right in that antibiotics aren't necessary if there's no infection, although sometimes they are given as a precaution against a bacterial infection takes over. Antibiotics can be very beneficial for COPD, however, and one major treatment to help with inflammation and mucous production is azithromycin three days a week. People who have had the treatment have fewer exacerbations and improved quality of life.
Jean, You are right about the Azithromycin. I have been on it since April 2017.
But I take one a day. I'm now off of oxygen totally.
But some of side effects are scary.
Thank you for the information about Azithromycin.....my hubby had me order 60 pills of 250mg each from Canada so he could have them on hand . When he first has signs of a cold he starts taking @Mucinex, but if it gets to feeling like a chest infection it really helps to have the Azithromycin on hand.
No they is get me prednisone 10 mg a day three years now
My doctors add me on Prednisone for 3 years now two a day
