I'd suggest that you look up the "huff cough" method of getting the mucous up and out and give that a try. It's usually very effective.

My Doctor recommended using a device called an acapella. In is a plastic device that looks like a sweat potato.
You can buy this without a prescription. It has a mouth piece which you blow into the mouthpiece the unit vibrates and the vibration travel into your body. The vibrations release the them. You should use this unit between 5-10 minutes twice a day.
There is no electricity involved, perfectly safe and it works...I was surprised. I recommended this to a friend that had a sever case cold and it really helped.

It cost me about $70.00.

sometime when I just got up ,I have to cough up the phlegm, I would seem to agree other than taking Mucinex hope you week is good for you Breathe easy my fried

Sharona, hope all is well with you. Just won't let go of the harmonica will you? Yeah iI agree the Apple cider vinegar was no help to me, use to just drink it right out of the bottle. So you do not think i am altogether blind, cause I can see bleary stuff out of my one eye. Ok I know get to the point. I like your hair blond like that. Later as always. Take care.
