Heart Rate On Oxometer?
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know when my oxygen levels fall below 90 I need to do something right away. Usually get on supplemental oxygen. But I don't know what my heart rate should be. Anybody know the average because I know everyone is different?

The textbook normal range is 60 to 100 beats per minute.

my advice is 60 to 80 beats per minute... nothing below 60 beats per minute is normal..if it's below 60 and your oxygen level drops past 90 get help....90 might be your normal, but,Doctors like it around 96 at least the goal is 100 but thats not everyones norm everyone is unique...I'm just giving the norm range blood pressure varies i'd ask your Dr. abt what they'd like your vital signs to be at for you... Breath easy

The basic formula is 220 minus your age. That's the max that your heart rate should go. The aerobic range is between 60 and 80% of your max. That's general for everyone. If you're really concerned talk with your doc. One caveat: if you have COPD, have been very inactive for many years and begin an exercise program, expect your heart rate to go high; after all, you haven't asked it do anything in years and now you want it to work? It ain't gonna like you for awhile. As long as it doesn't get beyond about 90% of your max, I wouldn't get too worried, unless you have heart problems, and then you should get cleared by your doc for an exercise program before you start.
