Just under 1 year went into hospital for pneumonia, diagnosed first as bronchitis, over the year ruled out emphysema said it is asthma, inhalers & allergy tabs working . Pulmonary Dr. said I don't need to be seen for 1 year. But my days are so up and down, energy, lack of it. Things are not the same, I'm learning to choose my priorities, just so tired . Always use to be active and doing things, now I have to say no a lot to activities. Can any one give some insight? thank you.
Asthma is included under the COPD umbrella by some docs and not others, so it depends on who you talk to as to whether it's considered part of COPD or a separate illness all together. If you're having troubles, especially with energy and finding that you're really having to change your lifestyle, I agree that you should go back to the doc and see if anything's changed. You should probably also talk about what you can do to help yourself. Asking about Pulmonary Rehab would be a good start; either going to the class or beginning your own exercise program. As about his long term treatment plan for you.
You might want to get a blood test for iron deficiency. I was dragging, so tired all the time. Test range was 52-150 and I was at 33. Please keep up with the activities that you can do, this will help.
I myself think exercises definitely help! Each day I do two hours - one hour each session on my cross training machine. Started off for a few minutes, now one hour per session. I can walk faster, carry shopping, chat. When it’s extremely windy, I take things much easier. You have to want to do exercise. As I only have one and a bit lung capacity, I make myself do exercise every single day. My husband Terry just said to me,” I admire your tremendous willpower.” If it keeps me living longer - then it’s worth it. Not every body has this type of willingness. I hope this helps.
Happy breathing. God bless. Sandy

Thank you Peter.
Good morning Nancy,
The best bet is to seek advice from a pulmonary Doctor.
Breath easy.
God bless you.
