I have been talking to a few medical people and general friends who use to scuba dive with me some years ago regarding Decompression Chambers and its believed that trials or something similar has been used to help heal damaged lung tissue...for those that do not know what a Decompression Chamber is, its a large tank used by Deep Sea Divers to help them climatise from depths so they dont get the bends.Does anyone k ow bout this.
People with COPD are told not to scuba dive because of the danger of additional lung damage. I think the issue with decompression chambers and damaged lungs is that these are normal lungs that have been exposed to greater depths than they should have and has to do with exchanging gases, not actually "healing" lungs that have been damaged. On the chance that there's something to this, you can certainly ask your doc!
On with the Decompression Chamber and damaged lungs discussion . Would it be possible to add medication in a chamber where one could breathe in the medication - not unlike a nebulizer but a different medication ? I'm sure it would be costly but , once someone was able to figure out the medication and the delivery , we would be set !
