Trying to see if it's a good choice for me
I work out 2-3 times a week with one of my best friends and 6 years ago he had a double lung transplant and he is doing fantastic...you eats right , exercises and is so happy to have a second chance at life. He walks every day , positive attitude, I am working to get to the time I may qualify to have a second chance on life...
My cousin had a lung transplant about 25 years ago in Newark Hospital, in New Jersey. It was successful and he was doing great! He died in his sleep about 12 years ago, but his lungs were still doing fine at the time he passed way
PatriciaAnn,
Please do not be afraid to go to your doctor. If you need help go and get it and do not wait. The longer you do the more damage can be done to your lungs. Nothing to be afraid of ,get antibiotics and steroids and you will be fine. What is the problem ? Are you bringing up mucous ? Do you maybe need Mucinex to help clear your lungs ? Drink a lot of fluids, wine does not count, darn it . Please let us know how you are doing, we all care about you .
You have to go on a very long waiting list.
I live in Los Angeles and although I am not a candidate for a lung transplant (you must not have smoked for 5 years) there is a wonderful pulmonary surgery/lung transplant team at Cedars Sinai MC where I screened and which has excellent results. I would recommend that you look in to nationally known Medical centers in your geographic area through your treating doctors. These include Stanford in the Bay Area, Anderson in Houston, Mayo Clinic in MN and other areas, Beaumont Hospitals in the Detroit area and Cleveland Clinic. I am sure there are many others to consider. Best wishes!
