How To Breath Easy
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

hi guys
what do you all do to make your breathing easier upon awaking in the mornings ?
i find it very difficult to dress myself and wash for at least an hour after waking,
which means i have to wake at least 1.5 hours before i realy need to.
so any tips would be welcome

It depends on how bad your condition is as I don’t know the full story. I was like you when I was first diagnosed with COPD. I started a rehab course offered by the hospital to do some exercises. I did 6 weeks at twice a week starting slowly and built it up over a period of time. I now attend the gym 3 times a week and my breathing has improved by 30%. Waking up in a morning is no problem now.
If you can, try it. Believe me it works.

I use my nebulizer soon after getting up. I figure then when I take the Symbicort it just might get further into my lung to work better.

I prepare to lessen the movement in the a.m. as much as possible. For example: In the evening, my clothes choice is set out including socks, etc... for the next day. They are placed in the bathroom for easy access. Bath or Shower the night before. Then in the a.m. do a freshen up. In my case a female, I wash my hair night before and then just have to use curl iron in the a.m. I also have the coffee pot ready for a.m. .. just push the button. May not think about it, but each move we make .. makes it harder to breathe. So, get up earlier, yes have to .. get ready, relax with extra coffee and head out after about 20 add'l minutes. .
