A usual Nebulizer regimen is 4-6 times per day, usually just 4 times. So and the Nebulizer is not known as a do all medicine, it is just one of the many we will use in the course of this disease. The Nebulizer medicines are the same as the rescue inhalers but are normally consisting of Albuterol and Ipatropium mix with one being short acting and one a long acting med that takes the place of the rescue inhaler. If there is a reason you can not use the nebulizer as prescribed then the Dr. can likely get you something to take its place.

You need to talk with your doc about your problems and what you're doing to try to resolve them.

I have a portable nebulizer and a table top unit, between the two and a rescue inhaler ( Combivent) i can cover every 4 hours. The DuoNeb medicine is $4.00/month and the Combivent is $80.00/month so I try hard to use the nebulizer meds as much as possible.

My Dr. increased my Advair to 500/50 and I find that I use my nebulizer less.....One breath at a time
