Understood. tonight I was milling around before bed...and mine was pinging like a ball...I finally just had to lie down and let it calm down. Deep Breathing does wonders. Happy Easter

Mine does the same thing. I feel like I have a ping pong ball going on with my heart rate. Although the last week....it doesn't seem to want to work right. First they tell me I have a heart attack, the hypotension, and finally a hospital who goes 2 steps further and finds Pneumonia and sepsis. Not fun, but at least I am praying to pull through this episode just as God brought me through the other 4.....It hurts it's frightening, and it has you all over the place...like a bi-polar blood pressure ( no slam on bipolar disease because we have this in our family as well.).. I am just very grateful that we got into Halifax hospital before it went any further. God Bless. Breath Easy Breath Deep and Breath Life In. Where there is Breath there is life....Amen

Most days I stay between 100-128. I have had weird days where I walked four laps and I stayed between 133-166. Did not want to do lap fivr. Did not want to hit in the 170.

My heart rate goes back to 80 or so sometimes even less when sitting. I have had a Holter Monitor and an Echo Cardiogram and everything was okay so I guess I don't need to worry. Thank you for replying.

Unless you're over 90 or have serious heart issues, I don't think you need to worry. Increased heart rate with activity is expected, and for those of us with COPD, it's going to be higher than may be normal for someone your age because you haven't done much for so long. All of a sudden, you're asking your heart to WORK and it's letting you know it didn't expect this!

The standard for knowing when your heart rate is too high is 220 minus your age. That's your maximum safe heart rate. I'm 73, so my max is 147. My aerobic range (the range where I'm actually making my heart work well, but not too hard) is 88 to 118. Higher than 118 puts me in the anaerobic range, which isn't bad, it just doesn't work the heart as comfortably.

If you're really concerned check with your doc, but unless you are at least 90 or over or know that you have serious heart issues a heart rate of 110 is fine.
