The therapist gave me a list of exercises which helps but not a lot as I get tired and breathless very fast.I use a flutter to help clear my chest of phlegm but lately suffering from pains all over which my GP says it all down to lack of exercise.
You would me amazed how much exercise can change your life.
Hi Barbara,My walking is very curtailed due to other
Ailments.I should have explained iam a wheelchair user 99% of the time.Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question. Breathe easy my friend xx
Have you tried walking. You can go at your own speed. Stop when needed then, if you can, continue. Any little bit you can do is helpful, And it's not strenuous.
Congratulations Christine!!! You are doing a lot of exercises.
I have not been able to think clearly about the COPD diagnosis: too emotional. Next week will attend another hospital appointment for more tests. I have asked to redo the spirometer test, I was still being treated for asthma at the time, given Pulmicort to which I am severely allergic to. I did the test with a sore throat, infected sinuses and sore ears. I had no clue what to do during the test.
The doctor handed me over a sheet with a chart which talks about short acting beta agonists and long acting ones, short acting muscarinic antagonists- I'm completely baffled. Then there are the inhaled corticosteroid.
My life style has not changed: sports as usual, whole days dedicated to that. I find that my body craves weight lifting just now. I am however considering taking up the clarinet to give my lungs that extra bit of a working, singing in the shower is great. Within minutes going out I have problems breathing with the car fumes. But on Sunday went running in woodlands, doing all sort of jumps, used trees to do push ups, lunges and squats, stretches. The cold air hurts my lungs something awful.
