Ear, nose, throat and lungs are all connected. It's not at all unusual to get an ear infection along with an upper or even lower respiratory infection. Suggest you see an Ear, Nose and Throat doc and get checked out.

Now that is an interesting question for good number of Decades when I would get an ear infection was always a precursor to a lung infection. and have had many operations on both ears and since I had a Cholesteatoma in both ears 22 years apart, the first one by the time I got it dealt with I had to have all of my inner ear, removed so that ear is gone, but my left ear was still getting infections in my left ear as well as my lung infections as being the usual precursor to a lung infection. Now some 22 years later I went completely deaf overnight so much so I really thought that I had a bad case of flu, which transpired to be another Cholesteatoma which was promptly removed since that day to this my precursor to lung infections was removed as well and now I still get lung infections but I no longer get any warning. And as far as hearing is concerned I have around 30% hearing in my left ear as I can no longer tolerate any hearing devices inside my ear and now have a BAHA (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid) fitted to my skull, I have not had any more ear infections but I still consistently have lung infections. But since I have had my own nebuliser at home which I use as soon as I get up and at the end of every day before bedtime. and for the past two and a bit years I have had no ear infections bar one about perhaps I think it was around 4 months ago.which is a vast difference to what it was like two years previously.

Breath easy one and all and if that does not work, easy does it and put your feet up.
