I took cordyceps for a couple months but couldn’t tell it was doing anything so I stopped.

I think cordyceps does have value in the treatment of COPD but you should do so under the care of a Doctor of Chinese Medicine in conjunction with traditional western medicine., inhalers, etc.,. If chinese traditional medicine is suspect to you then consider this study by the nih.

The National Institute of Health conducted a study of cordyceps- (c. sinensis)

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC57...

they concluded that cordyceps does play a role in lung health- "In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that C. sinensis attenuated airway remodeling in rats with COPD by inhibiting airway inflammation and the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway. These findings suggest C. sinensis may be a useful approach for COPD therapy".

Dr. Andrew Weil
"Take the Chinese medicinal mushroom cordyceps, which is nontoxic and may be useful in slowing the progression of chronic lung disease. Cordyceps has also been studied for improving lung efficiency in athletes, and might offer benefits for those with compromised function. Look for capsules of cordyceps extract and follow the dosage directions on the label"

I for one believe the pharmaceutical solution is just a piece of the puzzle and the two, pharmaceutical and herbal should work together. Lord knows the pharmaceuticals carry are loaded with all kinds of side effects and therefore, to me, they are not the only solution.
