My inhaler is called Trelegy Ellipta 92/55/22 mcg I can't see it listed, is I don't feel much better with, is it a good one to carry on taking?
chrish, you say none of your inhalers do nothing for you. While that may be true, one or more of them may be working quite well for you even if it doesn't seem so. If you really want to know whether one or more or your inhalers is working or not, you need to be intentional about it. Figure out which of your inhalers is the long acting muscarinic agent (LAMA), like Spiriva. Stop using it for at least two weeks and see how you feel If you don't feel any different at all, then you're probably right; you're not getting any relief from it. Once you've done that, figure out which inhaler is the long acting beta agonist (LABA) or combination of LABA and an inhaled corticosteroid. A LABA by itself would be something like serevent or olodaterol. A combination of a LABA/ICS would be Advair, symbicort, dilera or Breo.
Based on what you find, you will actually have data to take to your doc. Be sure you've given each med at least two weeks off and more is better. Learn about other meds in the same class as the ones you're taking and go in asking to have one that you think might help prescribed and talk about why you think it will work. While your doc is right that there are no more meds to try, you could try different meds in the classes of meds; one of them might work better for you than what you're taking now.
If she's still saying no, then I'd find another doc.
I've just been swapped over to this and don't have to use my Budesonide inhaler any more (I used to use twice a day). I think you should carry on using this Trelegy Ellipta 92/55/22 mcg, but discuss it with your chest physician or whoever prescribed it for you. Take care x
Your Trelegy is a new combination that was approved about a year ago for use the in US by the FDA. Many people like it because it's three meds in one: a LABA, a LAMA and an ICS and once a day. Some don't like it. The only way to know whether it will work for you is to try it and see. We all respond differently to different meds, and while all the med classes are the same, each manufacturer has a different LMA or LABA, for instance, and sometimes the combination just doesn't work for some people. If it's working for you, then keep taking it. If it doesn't, make sure you know how it's not working so you and your pulmonologist can figure out what combination might work for you.
I'm on Trelegy and I love it. I'm breathing is much better and so is my attitude on life.
Jean, on another forum, someone posted a medical report that stated that all inhalers are basically useless with pure emphysema. Have you heard that? Do you have an opinion?
