The Zephyr valves by Pulmonx were approved by the FDA shortly after the first of the year. i believe that all of the sites listed above were sires for clinical trials for the valves. The valves have been available in the UK, Europe and other parts of the world for as much at 10 - 15 years. The clinical trials that were held in the US didn't have good enough results to take to the FDA until just recently. Besides the Zephyr valve, there's one other that is in the process of seeking approval for use in the US. One of the advantages we have right now is that Pulmonx learned a lot about their valve in Europe and developed some additional tests, techniques and tools that can make their placement much more precise. My hope is that eventually we'll have a situation where each person interested can be evaluated precisely and the specific valve, vent or coil that will work best for them can be determined. That's really getting toward personalized medicine.
This is very exiting news. Do you have to be at a certain level to qualify?

The valves operation approval is very important news and not receiving publicity it deserves. I'm trying to learn what Medicare will contribute towards procedure because no doubt it is extremely expensive, requiring specialized equipment and training.. Also, trying to ascertain what COPD conditions are eligible. Answers please!
What that will do? Sorry I never heard about it
