Aspirating pneumonia means that you inhaled something into your lungs: a piece of food, a crumb, maybe a bit of a drink; whatever, and that's what caused the pneumonia. If you do that regularly, yes it's serious. You probably need to have a speech therapist do a swallow study to be sure that your swallow is working properly and not hurting you.
Get well soon. I am fighting Pneumonia also.
Thank you Christine.
Thanks Hessu Jean and James A Yes I've had pneumonia a few times and had to stay in hospital and sent home with portable oxygen. This time was different it was Aspirating also was told I was oxygen intolerant so that's what I want to know?
My wife ended up on hospital with pneumonia, she was not very well, she had antibotics intravenously, over a 5 day peroid/with oxygen etc also while in hospital, then orally for 2 days(at home)she got over it.She is in the process, now of rebuilding her strength i.e short walks etc..Of course have to take steps, for it not to recur.
