I know this sounds an awkward question ,but as I push myself to do as much as possible, like I did pre COPD But either hyperventilate or get taken short .This is a serious question and slightly embarrasing but my doctor just brushes it off with no answer Thanks for taking the time to read this but I know I am amongst friends and other suffers so feel happy not to feel embarrased have a good day all breathe easy
Letting your O2 sats get too low often results in needing to urinate right now! One way to deal with this is to be sure you keep your O2 sats at a nice high level, like 95-97 when you're exerting yourself. The other thing that will give you a level of comfort is to wear some sort of protection. Many people do.
What happens with COPD is that when your O2 sat level get too low, your brain send the available O2 to vital organs like the brain and the heart. Sadly, the bladder and sometimes you anal sphincter don't make the cut and cause problems.
Another reason to wear your O2!
I wet myself and did not know why til I got on oxygen. It stopped when I was diagnosed and got on total oxygen 24/7
I have a similar problem And I read that if you sleep in a CPAP mask if it's not fitted properly then you often need to get up to go to the loo I tried refitting mine but it does not work I still need to get up 3 times during the night, My Doctor is similar to yours and was not interested he did a urine test to see if my kidneys were ok and tapped my back over my kidneys and said everything was OK I do wish these Doctors would take us seriously its very embarrassing especially when I'm in my wheelchair Its even more difficult I now where jogging pants everyday they're easier to lose if your in a rush. Sorry if this is too much information but that's what we are here for so I'm told.
I to get that problem always looking for the toilet when I enter a new place make sure I go before I leave the house it's because when ur body is low on oxygen it goes in to survival mode and supplies the parts you need to keep going unfortunately your bladder is not one of them so you lose control over it until you get your oxygen levels back up I no it's a nightmare you could have just been to the toilet and bang that happens hope this has been of some help breath easy friends
Thanks everyone for all your answers I now know I am not unique with my problem .You have all given great info how it effects you so this has made me feel better in my self as I am not alone. I agree Information like this is what the site is for you can get answer that the Doctors dont even know Cant do a GIF of a WEE Ha Ha !! but this will suffuce
