30 mgs for five days with no taper is what you all said. I've seen anything up to 60 mgs for five days with no taper; anything longer than that especially at higher doses probably should have a taper. What's prescribed is usually determined by how sick you are and how bad your lungs are at the time, so a lot of it depends on you, how sick you are and your doc.

Rolland, by waiting until you have to be hospitalized, you're probably doing additional damage to your lungs you could avoid by catching your exacerbations before you have to be hospitalized. If you catch things really early, you can usually get away with just antibiotics and no prednisone. What you get intravenously is much more powerful than what you would take orally. Being on a steady dose of 10 mg per day is pretty hefty especially over months at a time. Knowledge is definitely power.

I checked both online and they both have similar functions... So it does get confusing.
When using this site in general , be careful, as manufacturers can use their brand names how they like in different countries. It's always a good idea to learn the generic name for the drug. ☺ πŸ€

In England I think it’s 6 a day, at 5 mg a tablet

In UK we are prescribed prednisilone, not prednisone.
Different hormones, not to be confused. Don't ask me why the different prescription...
5mg x 6 daily for 5 days is the norm. If the doc prescribes another week, then you must wean off slowly. Remember, despite the steroid apparently giving you an energy boost, it is your own energy, and it is needed to help recovery, so take it easy........ ☺ πŸ€
