Does the disease progress any differently in smokers and non-smokers? The first bit of advice given to those afflicted with emphysema is to stop smoking - well what is the advice if one doesn't smoke?

Been looking at my Oxygen % on oxymeter and noticed when i'm on home unit with water i seem to have a lower O2 Level. So i took water off and watched my oxygen levels . Definitely went up 2 % or more without water. Looks like feeding the oxygen through the water bottle pulls some oxygen out of the flow. Btw i'm on 6 liters.

This has all been a huge shock especially at such a young age. I just got married last summer. Then found out a month later I have a rare genetic disorder and it's too far advanced to do much about it unless I get double lung and liver transplant and I was told to start planning end of life arrangements. I got really excited when I was invited to attend a COPD clinic at local surgery, as I think care has been very ad-hoc (when I was diagnosed in 2009 my physio said "I have known people survive 10 years with this condition"). Today when I went to the clinic the first thing the nurse said to me was "who told you you have COPD, you have Bronchietasis that is not COPD.
