A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anybody heard of this procedure? My doctor says I should do this as this would help my shoetness of breath. Right now I have alot of wasted air which causes the shortness of breath.

IF you qualify, you should have good results, though there still are risks. This isn't something you just ask for and get automatically.

Thank you for your reply. I'm still in the reshearch part. But Iam leaning towards having it done. The next month or so should be intresting.

The Zephyr valves are one of two that have been approved by the FDA for use in the US; It's basically a non-invasive type of Lung Volume Reduction Surgery, using vents and/or valves to cut off areas of the lung and allow less damaged areas to take over. They've been quite successful in Europe and other areas of the world. If you qualify, it might work very well for you.

I am slated for an endobronchial valve myself. Indeed, this procedure is not available upon request, but for specific treatment of specific breathing problems.
