sounds very painful ive had pleurosy and its bad enough so i can feel your pain take care
Not common, but not unheard of either. I had one about six years ago that was resolved by draining off the fluid. It took a couple of weeks to really recover, but once I did, things were fine.
I don't know
My pleural effusion was not extremely painful, but was uncomfortable enough that it took me to the doc. I had a pain/ache in my lower right back, right about where the kidneys are and it just wouldn't go away. We spent some time dinking around thinking it was gall stones before I finally had a CT scan with contrast that showed the pleural effusion just fine. I could see the bottom part of my lung disappearing in the fluid that was building around it. The thorocentesis wasn't that painful either, and when the fluid was gone (over 2 quarts) I could certainly feel the difference. Then my lungs and the lung cavity had to get re-acquainted and that was painful; rather like pleurisy, I'm told (which I've never had, so I wouldn't know) but that went away after three or four days and it took another two weeks to get back to normal.
Mine has been there since December, Radiologist couldnt find enough fluid to drain, but f/u CT still shows resolving layered pleural effusion along with ateclasis of the l lung. Oh well. Mayme I am bsing given a patience test.
