Humidity
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

HI, I seem to be unable to breathe when either in the kitchen while cooking or in the bathroom. I can no longer take a shower and have to have a bath with the window and door to the bathroom open. I have seen articles about using a nebuliser on the net and wonder if this would help my breathing or make it worse s if I was in a steamy atmosphere. Does anyone have an answer please as I don't want to buy one and be unable to use it. thank you.

My husband had issues with his breathing while taking a shower. He uses his oxygen while showering. We've noticed that if he does a nebulizer treatment before he showers his breathing is much easier. Of course we keep the bathroom door open and we have a ceiling fan on high.

You need to talk with your doc. Using a nebulizer shouldn't make you feel like you're in a humid atmosphere; it should help your breathing. However, a nebulizer and the medication to be nebulized have to be prescribed, so talk with your doc.

When I went to my Pulmologist, I asked about a nebulizer she said that I need to try. I am paying through the medical equipment co. The medicine for the nebulizer is expensive. It helps with breathing and it’s short term. Meaning 2x day. I’m not having problems right now so I’m not using it. Hope this helps.
