Do people work with COPD and what kind of work are you capable of doing with out getting fired for lake of work because of your COPD
Many people with COPd work. Some have problems with their employers over things that have nothing to do with their chronic condition; some have difficulties with employers who feel they can't or shouldn't make needed accommodations. Some have jobs requiring them to be very active and "on the go"; some find that more sedentary jobs are easier to maintain. It depends on you and your employer. You'll need to do some educating of your employer regarding your situation, but I encourage you to continue to work as long as you can. Talk with your doc about a good exercise program. The better condition you're in, the easier you'll find it to continue to work.
I worked for years with COPD....would see my PCP when a flareup and have to go to Take Charge ( employee health ) and was given so many days off. We had a union of which I was a steward so I was never reprimanded. I worked as a Hospice aide.
What kind of work do you do?
Hopefully it is a good company.
I work in a warehouse, it's climate controlled so not as hot as other places, I work 32 hrs a week for most part it's a great job but there is a lot of dust and after couple days I can tell it, I have a portable tank with me that I use daily. My employer has been great working with me and I hope I can continue working
