SOB After Eating

Dont know if anyone else experiences this but after I eat a good meal I get extremely SOB . I was told in the hospital that I have extremely large lungs ( took 2 x-rays to get them all in) I am end stage emphysema top 2 lobes are bad but bottom 2 are not too bad I am in the process of qualifying for LVRS

I too cannot eat a big meal without having trouble breathing. You couldn't tell it by looking at me though--Lol. Small amounts are best!

Digesting food takes a lot of O2; that's why you get sob after eating a large meal. Many people with COPD eat six small meals rather than three large ones....much easier to digest and not so sob.

@A MyCOPDTeam Member I was also told that I have large lungs and I am in stage 4 emphysema and when I eat to much I to sob and I have gained weight anyway I sometimes eat 1 meal but eat a lot of snacks at night and that's not good so eat less or eat just enough to not be hungry during the day when I feel a little hungry I eat a piece of candy or slice of cake lol well I think I don't have any good suggestions so ill just say breathe easy and take care and know you are in my prayers

Thanks all for the responses . Smaller more frequent meals seems to be the answer . I guess I will pay more attention to how much and how often I eat

Eating smaller meals more frequently may help. Instead of eating 3 large or average meals, try eating 5:or 6 smaller meals. Also, keep note of what foods might cause you to feel more sob than others.
