I need to finish writing 3 more books, make sure my daughters coming of age is completed and ready, getting my casket payed for before my spirit passes over. there are days even with o2 I still wonder if my eyes will open back up and my chest move. I do not talk to my family they would just worry and I do not need pity. They can not fix it why bother them?

That's sad Mikial, no one lives forever we all know that, but us with COPD must (R) must always think positive, fight to stay alive, never give into COPD,FIGHT IT DAILY, family should be told about those with COPD, no they cant fix it, as there is no cure, but all the more reason to fight back, rushing things will not help anyone just put pressure you don't need on you, but thinking positive, and doing things at your own pace, i'm sure whatever you need to do for your daughters coming of age, you will succeed, i wish you luck hugs

Better to be busy, @A MyCOPDTeam Member. What say we move this riveting conversation away from the Q+A over to the fun stuff? lol

Thank you, @A MyCOPDTeam Member. How are you doing these days? Hope you're not having to do too much cooking for tomorrow. As long as Bill has a game to watch, he doesn't care if he's eating feathers, but I'll put something together for him.

Any time we have "intimations of our own mortality" the enormity of what we hope to accomplish in our lifetime becomes apparent. However, a diagnosis of COPD isn't a death knell; it really should be viewed as a wake-up call to make some of the life style changes we know we should have made years ago, but that can still prolong our lives now. Exercise, diet and no smoking can keep us going for many years. Stick with your work, make the arrangements you want to make, simplify your life and of course, talk with your family about your chronic condition. While they can't do anything about it, by talking with them, you make them aware of what's going on and how they can help you by listening, encouraging and being understanding. Even though they can't change your situation, they can be supportive and that's worth a lot.

With some luck, good meds, a good exercise program and diet, you may live for a long time and get all your projects completed and have time for more.

I think it's a good idea anyway at my age. Why dump all that on the kids. Gonna have a humongous yard sale one day and get the attic cleaned out.
