I use a face shield, available from Amazon. It's much more forgiving and provides protection for others. It will provide some protection for you, as well. Another option is a bandanna. Tie it tight enough over your nose to keep it up, and loose around your mouth and it will work fairly well. When you are out and wearing it, take it very slow and easy. Use your oximeter to keep track of your O2 sat levels, turn your O2 up if you need to and use pursed lip breathing.
That will help.

I ware a mask when out and about with no problem! What I do since I'm already on oxygen, I turn it up one or two liters more, which corrects my labored breathing!

I bought mine on amazon. I got the frame and 10 shields for under $20. Pretty basic but does the trick.

I wear a mask and I'm fine. I see people using every excuse in the book to avoid wearing some protection. For the length of time you run into a store a mask is fine. I can't go up a flight of stairs without needing my emergency inhaler, but a mask doesn't bother me. truth. If a mask bothers you , then get a shield. Or stay home.
