Please read and please give me some feedback as to what you may think. I’ve questioned this a few times over the past couple of months. But 2 weeks ago I woke up on a Saturday morning at about 4am, took off my CPAP, and couldn’t breath. When ever I would lie down I was unable to breath. This was going on for about 6 weeks, since the 2nd or 3rd week of June, which is when I returned to work at the hospital after a 3 month leave due to COVID, and my COPD. This question is really one for your doc to answer. Personally, I would say that it certainly didn't help, but to say that wearing the mask was the sole cause of your CHF given your history of COPD is going to be extremely hard to prove. It's perfectly possible that you could have developed CHF anyway; CHF is often diagnosed along with COPD.
If you're just asking for opinions, you'll get them here. If your concern goes beyond that, you need to find a really good Worker's Comp attorney.
COPD is the contributing factor to your Congestive Heart Failure. Which basically too much fluid around your heart I am now at the Pulmonary Hypertension stage without Heart Failure. I suppose at some time in the future that will occur. I don't know how you tolerate the heat. I can't breathe and there are so many things we do that can bring about other conditions much faster than we normally would get them. I don't just have sob, I literally bend over gasping for air. A year before I went to the Dr., I did this. I have a mitral valve problem and assumed it was that which caused it. It wasn't. I have the dry form of COPD/Asthma Chronic Bacterial Sinusitis I am year-round in all difficulties to breathe.
I doubt it. You could take your oximeter to work and check. Mine does not fall.
Probably ought to mention too that many people who have CHF do not have COPD.
I dont have an answer but wanted to let you know I admire you for working all those hours with a mask on and having copd and now congestive heart failure. That would be so difficult! Take care of yourself.
