I use a nebulizer but need the best device that aids in coughing up and breaks up phylum. I have the pickle and the flute. Need something better. Thank you
Mucous plugs is the proper terminology and they can be seen on CT scans. I've only had one in my life and I didn't even know I had it until I coughed it out. I don't think one small one makes that much difference, but people who have many tell me that when you do get rid of them breathing is easier.
I've had COPD for over 20 years and I've learned a lot from participating on boards and forums like this one, talking with RTs, nurses and getting involved with both the COPD Foundation and the ALA here in Iowa. There are some good places to learn about COPD on the internet and it's worth it to learn and pay attention. The more you know the better you can manage and control your COPD.
So I use the huffing technique, it gives me just enough air bursts to loosen my mucus. I also drink hot lemon water. Helps to clear airways. I do use mucinex the regular kind with lots of water.
Thank you Rick. It’s called a pickle too
I use an Aerobika it's a breathing device that you breathe into and it causes a vibration in the chest. It losings the mucus in the lungs and makes it easier to get up. you can get one from your local pharmacy for around $20.00.
Sit down on the edge of the chair and take a pillow against your stomach and lean over it to where it pushes up and then cough
