I heard pineapple juice helps people with copd breath better is this true does it work
Correction: "Unlike grapefruit juice, it does not interact with our meds."
Bromelain is a digestive enzyme, similar to the Cysteine in NAC, often recommended for our frequent congestion. It CAN be slightly reactive against medications like antibiotics and blood thinners, slowing down their adsorbtion. But you will mostly get an upset stomach if you drink to much.
Coming from a food source, it will likely never be studied like many synthetic chemicals used as medicine. But it has more vitamins and minerals than a glass of orange juice. So YES, give it a try. One Study is going to be more Wrong than the millions of people used to confirm the results.
I don't know about helping to breathe better but it is a Go-to for soothing sore throats and coughing spells. Forget the scientific proofs and read about the usefulness proven here:

Anything that reduces inflammation (mucus) is OK in my toolbox. Unlike grapefruit juice, it does not interact with our meds. Your mileage may vary.
In contrast to Roland's citation, the NIH basically says there isn't enough scientific evidence that bromelain (the ingredient in pineapple juice thought to have anti-inflammatory properties) to say one way or the other. It isn't going to hurt you, so give it a try and see what you think.
The only thing I have heard of is alcoline free water reverses the proccess. I know someone using it, and she now can breathe well. I have also started to use himalayan salt NEVELERS. My doc said it was a good choice.
Also licorice tea I found helps
