A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question 💭

Was on a short 2 week course steroids (predisolone( plus vitamin d . Sprays and everything that goes with it, at Xmas. Now been started on 6 tablets fir 2 weeks then 5, then 4, now 3. Started feeling not all there. , feeling strangely tired, legs won't move , brain seems to say one thing body telling me different. Can anyone tell me us this normal. Been given the 6 day rule by gp and steroid emergency treatment card. But no one to ask???

Call your doctor and ask. We all react differently with every drug. They will advise if it’s normal. Steroids make my blood pressure go too high. Not true for everyone. Take care!

I sit too long. Need to move sometimes. Keep moving legs important to keep them going. Stand up holding on move legs. Don't fall or get someone to help you stand up if need be.
Easy breathing

Hi Christine. We can't advise or diagnose in this Self-help Forum but many may share from common experience. Some of our meds can cause the weird sensations you describe. Our meds remove things like calcium, potassium and sodium from the body, which the nervous system needs to control muscle and joint movement properly. Dehydration also has a lot to do with this too, and helps much more when lung congestion builds up causing shortness of breath. The steroid treatment you describe is pretty common during a Flare-up but extra water is necessary then too.
Our medical systems are worlds apart and different, but your GP and Nurse should still be willing to hear your concerns and anxiety about the medication regiment they prescribed.

Keep moving even if you stagger. Use furniture to hang onto. Do leg exercises while seated . Can find exercises on tube. I am not on steroids and I still have stagger problems..Write your symptoms down and try not to be afraid. Just observe and see if they improve when and why..Try to breath normal. Over breathing causes symptoms. Get fresh air. Praying you feel better soon. People here care. You are not alone
