Feeling Like I Can't Catch My Breath. Why?
A MyCOPDTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I have been having SoB and having a hard time catching my breath. Then I feel like someone is sitting on my chest and I can't catch my breath. My O2 levels are in the low 90's but still feel like I am unable to catch my breath. Is there something I can take or do to ease my breathing?

I would recommend that you see your pulmonologist and let him know that you are having trouble with SOB. You may be having an episode or it may be the air quality right now or other reason. YOu said in your profile that you were on oxygen at night and when exerting - perhaps you may need it 24/7 right now if you are having trouble. Your doctor can tell you that. I will say that the heat and air quality where I live do affect your breathing so depending on where you live it may be affecting you too. We are recommended here to stay indoors in the AC where I live during these heat advisory days.

Get to the doctor....don't let it get worse.

I called the Dr.; Says it was inflammation and put me on more nebulizer treatments a day and O2 while walking now.
Breathing better. Thanks

Increased sob is often one of the first signs of an exacerbation, so calling your doc is the first thing to do. You may be asked to come in for a visit or be prescribed antibiotics and prednisone. I would also test for COVID. Once you've recovered, I'd suggest that you begin a daily exercise program if you don't already have one and if you do have one that you increase the intensity of the exercise just a little to build greater capacity for both heart and lungs. If you're in good physical shape, you're less likely to get really ill and the better your conditioning, the more protection you have.

I would call the doc to see their suggestion . Do you have a rescue inhaler?
